Crossing the generations to crochet beautiful yarns. Claire who has been crocheting for many years took time out of her busy schedule to come into school to chat with one our Year 6 students. Together their discussed their passion for crochet, to share good practice.

Crochet is the creative practice of creating textiles by working yarns with a hook. The name has its origins in the French word crochet which means hook. The yarns are worked with loops, known as ‘yarn over’. There are 200 different stitches. A favourite pattern with many people is the ‘Granny Square’.
Hooks can be very small and also very large and are made from a range of different materials: metal, wood, bamboo or plastic.
